about the Artist
my story
Hey! My name is Lee (she/her) and I am an artist, teacher, and aspiring astrologer who has been exploring the craft for around 20 years. I live, work and make magic on Bindjareb Boodja, in Mandurah, on the western coast of Australia south of Boorloo (Perth).
I find my passion in sharing arts and crafts (of all prescriptions!) with others, facilitating workshops and classes encouraging others to tap into their own creativity. As an art teacher, I have often found myself in the ‘jack of all trades’ role. I love dabbling in all kinds of media, but I seem to come back to traditional painting and drawing as my vehicle of choice.
Often my art explores the whimsical, the witchy and the wondrous; I have always been fascinated with myth and magic, and my work delves into the liminal, the kitsch, the silly and the serious all at once. I like to straddle the realms between this one in the next, always with a sense of bright colour, mirth & reverence, and delight in the uncanny or the odd. No longer 'emerging', I’ve realised I quite like it in the underworld anyways, and so my work often resides in the loose categories of esoteric, 'outsider', or 'lowbrow'.
I am a long time student and initiate of the modern witchcraft path, as crooked and curled as it may be. I adhere to a spiritual framework that emphasises care and wonder in the natural world. I have also had a life long fascination with astrology, and learning the practice is connecting so many threads of my path together.
